The series kicked off with a compelling first session on November 21st, titled “Disclosing Your Disability and Your Legal Rights.” This session marks the beginning of a series designed to empower and educate those embarking on their career journeys.

A Glimpse into the First Session

The inaugural webinar, led by Kerry Chotty from Legal at RNIB, delved into the intricate and often misunderstood topic of disability disclosure in the workplace. This session was not just an informative guide but also a source of empowerment for participants, equipping them with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of their legal rights in employment.

Key discussion points included:

  • Understanding the Legal Framework: Insight into the laws and regulations that protect individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Strategies for Disclosure: Navigating the when, how, and why of disclosing a disability to potential or current employers.
  • Employer’s Obligations: What employers are required to do in terms of accommodations and support.
  • Empowerment Through Knowledge: How understanding your legal rights can enhance your confidence in the job market.
