WAF: Working Age Forum

On the second Wednesday of every month the Working Age Forum (WAF) offers a relaxed and sociable environment for people of a working age who are blind or visually impaired. Whether you are working, job seeking, or running your own business, WAF is intended to provide a place for you to engage with others, and to allow you to discuss issues and interests whilst learning from and being inspired by your peers.

Working Age Forum (WAF)

On the second Wednesday of every month, the Working Age Forum (WAF) offers a relaxed and sociable environment for people of working age who are blind or visually impaired. Whether you are working, job seeking, or running your own business, WAF provides a place for you to engage with others, discuss issues and interests, and learn from and be inspired by your peers.

The WAF is a Zoom based discussion group.

Why Join WAF?

Supportive Community: Connect with others who understand the challenges you face. The forum provides a supportive space where you can share your experiences and tips around employment, particularly valuable for younger members.

Inspiring Topics: At our events, we invite guest speakers to talk about inspiring and relevant topics such as:

  • Public Speaking
  • Networking as a VIP
  • Tech Tips
  • Motivational Talks
  • Employment Rights
  • Access to Work
  • Training and Free Support
  • Recruitment of Support Workers

Shared Learning: The sessions are designed to be interactive, much like a radio chat show. Our host, Seema, brings each person into the discussion, allowing them to talk about their work experiences, challenges they’ve faced, potential issues ahead, and support they might not realize is available. By sharing our employment journeys, we all learn and grow together.

Secondary Discussion Topics: Each session also includes a secondary topic for discussion, such as gym accessibility. These topics provide additional opportunities to share experiences and solutions for common challenges faced by visually impaired individuals.

How It Works

At Blind Ambition, we aim to keep our members at the heart of everything we do. Our WAF content is designed around ideas and suggestions made by our ever-growing community. Our regular Working Age Forums are currently taking place online, using the Zoom video conferencing platform.
