SIGHT Village London 2025: Celebrating Innovation, Community and Inclusive Entrepreneurship

By Yemi Olanipekun — Employer Outreach & Business Development Intern, Blind Ambition Recruitment

Sight Village London 2025 brought together many of the most forward-thinking organisations supporting blind and partially sighted people. As this year’s event coincided with Global Entrepreneurship Week, it provided the perfect moment to highlight the creativity, lived experience, and leadership driving accessibility, innovation, and opportunity across our community.

Blind Ambition was proud to participate — connecting with organisations, showcasing our mission, and strengthening partnerships that help remove the barriers so many visually impaired people still face when seeking employment.

A Space Filled With Innovation and Practical Support

The exhibition offered a rich mix of organisations providing tools, services, and solutions that empower visually impaired and partially sighted people in daily life, travel, education, employment, and wellbeing.

Sight Village also reminded us how diverse, skilled, and dedicated the sector is — and how many organisations are working every day to improve accessibility and independence.

Blind Ambition at Sight Village: Sharing Our Mission

At the Blind Ambition stall, we introduced attendees to our:

  • Recruitment platform, designed specifically for blind and partially sighted job seekers

  • Professional Network, connecting job seekers, professionals, and allies

  • Growing Blind Ambition Community, which now includes over 150 members

  • Commitment to employer engagement, inclusive recruitment, and accessible pathways into work

We also filmed a short interview with Seema Flower, Managing Director of Blind Ambition, who shared her vision for tackling the 75% unemployment rate and creating long-term change through collaboration, community, and accessible recruitment.

As Seema Flower said on the day:
“Real change happens when blind or partially sighted people are listened to, believed in, and given the same chances as everyone else. Talent is everywhere — opportunity is not — and Blind Ambition exists to close that gap.”

For employers wanting to build more inclusive hiring practices, our training and consultancy offer practical support, including guidance on the Access to Work scheme:

For job seekers, we also provide training, guidance and one-to-one support:

Engaging With the Community Face to Face

Meeting members of our Blind Ambition WhatsApp Community at the event was one of the highlights. Many attended specifically because they feel supported and empowered to connect with organisations in person. These moments reaffirm the importance of our community-led approach.

Anyone wishing to join this community of over 150 visually impaired professionals, job seekers, and allies can do so here:

We also had valuable discussions with advocates, students, professionals, and organisations interested in joining our network or learning more about our recruitment platform.

Day Two: Continuing the Conversation

On Wednesday, my colleague Hamid Ait-Ouznag, Recruitment Support Intern, represented Blind Ambition. He spoke with visitors about:

  • The accessible design of our recruitment website

  • How job listings are created and promoted

  • Ways employers can reach visually impaired candidates

  • The technical support he provides to both employers and job seekers

His contribution ensured that the energy from the first day carried through to the second, helping us reach even more people.

Why Sight Village Matters

Sight Village is more than a showcase. It is:

  • A place for visually impaired and partially sighted people to engage directly with organisations and technologies

  • A hub for fresh ideas and new partnerships

  • A celebration of entrepreneurship within our community

  • A space to spark conversations about accessibility, employment, and empowerment

Events like Sight Village also demonstrate the importance of lived experience in shaping truly inclusive design. Many solutions on display were created by visually impaired innovators for visually impaired people — a reminder that progress is strongest when those with direct experience lead the way.

For Blind Ambition, attending reinforced our commitment to building a platform where people feel supported, informed, and connected — and where employers can discover the talent, expertise, and determination within the visually impaired community.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to build on the connections made during Sight Village and continue expanding our professional network, employer partnerships, and community reach.

With 75% of visually impaired people still excluded from the workforce, events like these highlight how urgent and necessary this work is. Employment is not just about jobs — it is about independence, dignity, and equality.

If you would like to:

  • Post a vacancy on our accessible job board

  • Join our Blind Ambition Professional Network

  • Explore training or consultancy for your organisation

  • Share a success story

  • Attend future events

We would be delighted to connect.
